Dermal Fillers

• Avoid dental work, vaccinations, and chemical peels for 2 weeks prior to dermal fillers
• Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores to receive advice on antiviral therapy prior to treatment 
• Do not consume alcoholic beverages 24 hours before your treatment to avoid extra bruising 
•  Do not apply products that are potentially irritating for 2 -3 days before and after treatment (examples- retinol, tretinoin/retin-a, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone) 
• Avoid the use of Aspirin, NSAIDS, Green Tea, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids for up to 1 week pre and post injection as they will increase your risk of bruising 
• Arrive with a clean face. Please do not wear makeup!
• Do not use dermal fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of it's ingredients or suffer from any neurological disorders.

•  Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area 
• Do not consume alcoholic beverages, exercise or sweat excessively for 24 hours after your treatment
• Avoid sun expose and extreme heat. Wear SPF always!
• You may take Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness/discomfort. Do not take Ibuprofen/NSAIDS as this may increase a risk for extra bruising
• Take an antihistamine for 2 weeks following your appointment-- we recommend doubling up and taking Xzyal in the morning for 2 weeks, Benadryl for the first 3 nights and the most of your swelling will be the first 72 hours 
• After treatment there will be moderate swelling and redness with possibility of bruising. Ask us about what products we recommend to reduce bruising.
• Do not apply retinols, retinoids, or other topical acids for 72 hours
• Wait a minimum of two weeks before DiamondGlow or laser treatments
• Change your pillowcase and sleep with your head elevated (off your stomach or side) for 2-3 days
• Lip Filler: your lips will be extra dry. Apply ONLY Aquaphor for the first 72 hours- and every night until the 2 week mark 

• 2-4 week post op should be scheduled before you leave your filler appointment
• Dermal fillers are not permanent and will naturally dissolve over time (usually 12-24 months depending on what products were used)
• We recommend patients return for a re-evaluation at least 3 months prior to fillers expected dissolve time to plan for maintenance filler. Remember, maintenance usually requires less filler than when it has fully dissolved. 
• Swollen, bruised, lumpy, bumpy for 2 weeks- filler starts to settle at 2 weeks and is completely integrated at 4 weeks. This means you will not be able to "feel" the filler like you could for the first 2 weeks this does not mean your filler is gone. It has just settled
• Minor discomfort is normal for the first few days. Swelling, bruising, tenderness & slight itching is also expected

• mottling or unusual bruising
• severe or increased pain, redness
• increasing warmth or coolness to touch
• severe swelling or itching
• blisters 
• difficulty swallowing or smiling
• fever/chills
