Post Op Directions for Glo Professional Whitening

  • Avoid foods and beverages that stain (wine, juice, coffee, tea, etc.)
  • Mild sensitivity may occur.  This usually passes within 1 – 2 days.  If sensitivity persists, we recommend taking over the counter pain medication or applying a desensitizer that can be purchased in our office. Sensitivity toothpaste may help
  • Color after whitening will continue to change as your teeth rehydrate for about 48 hours, you may see some unevenness in color before this time
  • Long term results vary from patient to patient.  This can depend on the original shade of your teeth and include habits such as smoking or drinking red wine, coffee, tea, etc.
  • Touch-up treatments may be needed every 12 months to retain color.
  • A take home whitening kit is sold in office that can help to maintain your whitening results
  • Existing fillings and crowns will NOT whiten.  Therefore, these may need to be changed in order to match your new shade
