Extractions

In cases of infected teeth where root canal therapy is not desired by the patient, extraction (“pulling the tooth”) is the alternative. Extraction may be the only option for those teeth that are deemed non-restorable (either too broken-down to hold any type of filling or crown, or those with decay below bone-level and therefore beyond the area accessible to acceptable treatment).

In some cases, the patient may be referred to a collaborating oral surgeon (a colleague specializing in these procedures).  This will be determined on a case-by-case basis by Dr. Hughes based on what’s best for her patient.
