Lifting threads are similar to temporary sutures and are used to produce a subtle, but visible “lift” in the skin. Instead of removing the patient’s loose facial skin surgically, the lifting thread simply suspends it. This has the effect of pulling the skin back slightly and therefore lifting and tightening the treated area(s), but lifting threads are not a replacement for a facelift. Instead, lifting threads are early intervention for early signs of skin laxity to both reduce looseness (by thickening and hydrating the skin) and to prevent it from getting worse (by strengthening the skin). Better than the “lifting” effect, threads combat aging in another way: by provoking the body’s “healing response” and causing the body to direct large surges of collagen to treated areas. Dr. Hughes’ favorite area to treat with lifting threads are the lower face especially the jawline. ***An important factor to note is that lifting threads are not often the first line of treatment as all areas of volume deficiency should be addressed first with fillers prior to thread treatment. // $$ Price is dependent on the treatment area(s) & the difficulty of the case in regards to how many threads will be needed to achieve the desired result but the average jawline thread lift in our office is around $500.
